Mission Trip 2026
Today was teambuilding day. We went to a waterfall in Honduras – Cataratas Pulhapanzak. It is a beautiful waterfall area. Each team member did a secret water activity. Most of the guys on the team and a few women did a unique waterfall experience – they actually hiked under a waterfall! They hiked /climbed/crawled across the bottom of that huge waterfall in the picture – with the water pounding their backs. Shawn said it was the most intense activity he had ever done. Keep in mind there are no OSHA standards here, nor many other safety standards. XiXi chose to do ziplining back and forth in front of the falls. Saranya and I chose to do river tubing. For the most part, it was relaxing with a nice current, but there were times we had to get out and hike down uneven paths, carrying our tubes, at one point even stepping over barbed wire. A little crazy.
Afterward, we had a late lunch at a restaurant. Shawn ordered fried fish – look at the picture to see what showed up! 😂 Some of us would starve! Shawn loved it, and it tasted pretty good. After eating, brothers from the local church sliced fresh coconuts for us with machetes in the back of one of the brothers’ trucks. Our family tried fresh coconut water and later fresh coconut meat for the first time. Thank you to our Honduran brothers for providing us with such a unique experience.
At night, we gathered a bunch of the younger adults on our team to assemble the 750+ dental kits to pass out. Our room then broke out in some soccer fun! Overall, we had a beautiful day of adventure together
