Mission Trip 2026Our brothers and sisters greeting us in Tegucigalpa
Whew! I needed an easier posting day. The past few days have been heavy. Today we finished our work in Comayagua and traveled as a team by bus to the capital city of Tegucigalpa – a 2-hour drive. We were greeted warmly by a group of disciples from our sister church in Tegucigalpa. We love serving alongside these amazing brothers and sisters. Their teens and young adults serve as our interpreters, and they are patient, fun, and extremely giving. They set a fantastic example even though they are young. I have learned so much from watching and interacting with these young men and women over the past three years. They have hearts of gold and are worthy of imitation.
Once we got settled at the hotel, we went across the street to the mall, ate together in the food court, and then went to the grocery store inside the mall to buy snacks for the next two days of service in the highlands outside Tegucigalpa. The next two days will be packed!
We then had church together with our sister church in Tegucigalpa. Two members of our team had the opportunity to share their testimonies: Shaye, a recent high school graduate, and Tawny, a married mom of teenage boys. They shared about overcoming insecurities, their trust and surrender to God through the challenges of life, and struggling to see themselves as God views them, as fearfully and wonderfully made. One of our team members, an incoming college sophomore named Jonathan, preached the Word about King Solomon and how he had everything in life yet had nothing. It was a sermon about the desires of our hearts, and the greatest desire of our hearts should be God. He did a fantastic job!
Then back to the hotel for an early morning tomorrow – the bus leaves at 6:15 am. – written by Jennifer Alexander
