Today was a significant day! Project Honduras and ALF hosted the 2026 Roatán Youth STEM Fair along with a soccer tournament for local schools. Let’s start with the exciting tournament that the Project Honduras volunteers supported.
Roatán Youth STEM Fair
✨ “If you can SEE it, you can BE it.” ✨
By primary school, many girls already develop narrow ideas about what careers are “for them.” Without visible role models and male allies, entire paths remain completely invisible.
The statistics show the reality of this gap:
– High School Graduation: Only 50% of Honduran women graduate (vs. 88% in the US)
– STEM Degrees: Only 9% of Honduran women graduate with a STEM degree (vs. 35% in the US)
The Project Honduras team decided “to be the change” to help break these barriers! 🇭🇳💪
In partnership with the Abundant Life Foundation’s education pillar in Roatán, we are thrilled to announce that we are funding a 4-year High School scholarship and a 1-year High School scholarship for two promising young girls! 🎓✨
For these incredible students and their families, this isn’t just financial aid—it’s the gift of a secure education and a bright future that once felt completely out of reach. We are filled with deep gratitude as we celebrate our newest scholarship recipients. 💛
🚀 Representation Truly Matters
On July 8th, more than 60 incredible Honduran girls took a massive step toward their futures at the “She STEM Career Fair” under the theme: ” Imagine It. Try It. Become It! 🚀 The energy was electric as these future leaders explored a world of endless possibilities. Here is a look at what made the day so unforgettable:
👩🔬 Real-World Inspiration
The girls connected with diverse women and male allies across incredible STEM fields. They met cancer research scientists, manufacturing process engineers, finance executives, and aerospace engineers who build actual planes and rockets!
🎥 Expanding Horizons
Through interactive panels, video stories, and custom Women in STEM trading cards, the girls saw firsthand that their dreams are achievable.
🧪 Hands-On Learning
Science came to life! The room was packed with excitement as they created handmade ice cream, built DNA keychains, and made instant snow.
🤝 Growth & Connection
Every activity challenged them to flex their problem-solving skills, practice teamwork, and let their curiosity run wild. This experience showed them a world of possibilities beyond their daily culture, inspiring them to dream courageously. This is exactly why we do what we do!
👩🔬 “How can I become a Rocket Scientist?”
As a beautiful reward for our incredible volunteers, two young girls came running back with excited tears in their eyes to ask that exact question. 🌟🚀 Moments like this prove that when you show a girl what is possible, you ignite a spark that can change her universe forever.
